Allstate: AI efforts

Allstate is one of the most aggressive AI adopters in US personal lines — top 10 in the 2026 Evident AI Index (and #4 on the Innovation pillar). Its highest-profile deployment uses OpenAI's GPT models to draft the bulk of its claims communications, and it owns the Arity telematics-data business. Where Allstate ranks on AI

Allstate is confirmed in the top 10 of the 2026 Evident AI Index for Insurance (Evident's index lists it at #9), with a standout #4 on the Innovation pillar, driven by patent activity.7

Its most-discussed deployment uses OpenAI's GPT models to draft nearly all claims-related customer emails — roughly 50,000 communications a day across ~23,000 reps, who now review rather than write them.1

2026

Allstate's "Large Language Intelligent Ecosystem" agentic-AI platform, confirmed on its Q1 2026 earnings call.2

"These emails used to include a lot of insurance jargon and weren't very empathetic… The claims agent still looks at them to make sure they're accurate, but they're not writing them anymore."

Zulfi Jeevanjee, EVP & CIO, Allstate — Feb 20251

Aggressive deployment, with real scrutiny

Allstate moves fast on AI — and that has drawn scrutiny: it publicly softened the "AI writes nearly all emails" framing, and its Arity data practices are the subject of a Texas Attorney General lawsuit (Jan 2025) that Allstate denies.6

It commits to ethical, transparent AI in its supplier code. Whether the models are right and fair is exactly what an insurance AI benchmark measures.

How Allstate runs AI
  • Claims comms drafted by OpenAI GPT; reps review for accuracy
  • Supplier code requires AI be ethical, fair and transparent
  • Board-level AI oversight referenced in SEC filings
  • Arity data practices contested in a Texas AG suit (denied)

Why this matters for benchmarking

Allstate puts AI directly into claims communications and telematics pricing. The more decisions models drive, the more it matters whether they're right — which is what InsureBench measures. See the methodology.
